Who runs this site
This site is run by True North Data Strategies LLC ("TNDS"), Colorado Springs, Colorado. It has one job: to say what Forward Operating Base is and to point visitors to TNDS.
What this front page collects
Nothing you type. This front page has no form, no account and no cookie set by us, and no analytics. It carries one link out to the client portal, which is a separate service described under Client portal below.
Hosting records
The site is hosted on Vercel. When your browser requests a page, Vercel receives the standard request details every web server sees, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, and keeps them in server logs for security and operation. TNDS does not use those logs to identify visitors.
Client portal
The client sign-in link on the front page leads to the client portal at portal.truenorthfob.org. The portal is a separate service, and this section describes it. It is invitation only. TNDS adds a person at the written request of the client that employs them. TNDS operators and the support staff assigned to that client also hold portal accounts, recorded in the same access list and described in the same way below.
The portal holds two things about a person. The first is a sign-in account, held for TNDS by Clerk: a work email address, the fact that it was verified, sign-in and session records, and a session cookie set in the browser. A session lasts up to 90 days, after which the person signs in again with a new email link. The second is an access list held by TNDS as server configuration: the same work email address, a role, the plant codes that person may see, the modules that person may open, and, after a first sign-in, the Clerk account identifier. That list decides what opens. It is read again on every request, so a change takes effect on the next click. The portal does not ask for or keep a photograph, a phone number, a home address or a payment method.
The operating data shown in the portal belongs to the client, not to the portal. When a page is opened, the portal asks the client's own workbook for that page and shows what comes back. The request names the module, the page, the role and the plant, and it does not name the person who opened it. The answer is kept in the server's memory for up to three minutes so the next click is quick, and it is not written to any TNDS database, file store or log. The client's records stay in the client's own systems.
Three processors are involved. Clerk runs the sign-in and holds the account records described above. Vercel hosts the portal and keeps the standard request details every web server sees, such as an IP address, a browser type and the page requested, in its logs. Google holds the client workbooks and runs the signed doors the portal reads through. The portal carries no advertising, no analytics and no third-party tracking.
Portal access runs for the term of the client's agreement with TNDS, reviewed each year at renewal. When that agreement ends, a 30-day window applies in which the client confirms its exports from its own systems. TNDS then turns off portal access and the service identities. Within 30 days after access ends, TNDS deletes that person's portal account and their entry in the access list. Request records kept by Clerk and by Vercel expire on those providers' own retention schedules. Page answers held in memory are gone within three minutes, and whenever the portal restarts.
To have a person removed from the portal, ask your TNDS operator or use the contact address below. Removal from the access list takes effect on that person's next click. Anything set by the written agreement between the client and TNDS is for the client to request.
Client systems
Access to systems that TNDS manages for a client is by invitation. How client data is handled is set by the written agreement between the client and TNDS, not by this page.
